VOLUNTEER AT COMMUNITY BUILD DAYS IN OAKDALE

ADDRESS:  4885 HAMLET AVENUE NORTH OAKDALE, MN OCT 6-10, 2008

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is teaming up with A Place of Hope - new Food Shelf and Resource Center serving the areas of Oakdale, Woodbury, Landfall and Maplewood.

Twin Cities Habitat's Oakdale Community Build Days provides the opportunity for Oakdale Residents—of all ages, backgrounds and skill sets—to take a hands-on approach to solving the affordable housing crisis, by coming together—as volunteers and donors—and building a simple, decent home for a hard-working, low-income family in the Twin Cities and supporting the local A Place of Hope Food Shelf.

At Oakdale Community Build Days October 6th-10th, 2008 8:00 am - 4:30 pm:

  • Oakdale Residents will step out of their comfort zone, acquire new skills, make new friends and discover unexpected strengths.

  • The vast volunteer pool from Oakdale will mobilize—better equipping us to tackle the growing need for affordable housing across the seven-county region.

  • The dream of affordable, sustainable homeownership will become a reality for one of the many area families in desperate need of stable housing for their children.

  • Participants will make a lasting difference to themselves, to a partner family and to the Twin Cities community. It doesn't get any better than that.
  • Free lunch each day.  Friday lunch provided by Buffalo Wild Wings- Oakdale.

No current construction skills? No worries. Training is provided. The project will be supervised—start to finish—by an experienced site supervisor from the Twin Cities Habitat staff.

DONATIONS:  Additionally, we are asking each Volunteer to bring a Non-perishable food donation or cash donation in support of A Place of Hope to support the local food shelf and community.

Friday, Oct 10th- lunch provided by Buffalo Wild Wings- Oakdale Location.

Build Site Location

The area for the build site is being redeveloped by the city of Oakdale.  The roads Scarlet Oak St E and Spanish Oak St will be changed to Hamlet Ave N, but we are not sure how long it will take Yahoo to update their maps of the area.  So, when traveling on 694 exit on to 36 West.  Then South to Hadley Ave N.   The site will be on your right before you get back to 694.  Parking will be limited due to the construction projects in the area.  Please look for the signs for the designated parking spots.  If possible, please carpool.
